Mike Hornbuckle shown celebrating 20 years with Beere Group

When Mike (Hornbuckle) joined Beere Group, the business looked very different to the company it is today.
What began with a strong focus on electrical installation work, including residential electrical services, gradually evolved as we identified changing requirements within the construction, development and demolition industries.
Electrical installation led us towards electrical isolations. Electrical isolations developed into multi-service isolations, incorporating electrical, gas and water alongside managing the disconnections of these respective services and more (electric, gas, water, telecoms, fibre).
From there, our experience in increasingly complex environments led us into hazardous-environment isolations, working on sites involving dangerous structures, asbestos, fire damage and other challenging conditions.
Today, our capabilities extend much further – from identifying and managing site services isolations to project management, land acquisition support and specialist underground services investigations - where our teams trace, expose, identify and prove unknown services.
In many ways, working at Beere Group over the last two decades has been like working for several different businesses – without ever actually leaving the company.
The common thread within the business is our ever expanding knowledge of services, our focus on safety and our willingness to evolve when our clients' needs change.
Mike has been there through it all
Mike has experienced this evolution first-hand. Joining Beere in September 2006, Mike progressed through his electrical apprenticeship and developed into one of the company's core electricians and project managers.
Over the years, his role has naturally evolved alongside the business. He has seen the transition from traditional electrical work into specialist isolation projects, multi-service site clearances, complex hazardous environment works and the increasingly investigative side of what we do today.
That experience has created something that cannot simply be taught in a classroom or written into a procedure – knowledge built through experience.
Every site is different. Every building has its own history. Every service network has its own quirks. And sometimes the information available on paper doesn't tell the whole story.
Having someone like Mike, who has seen the industry and our business change over two decades, provides an invaluable depth of knowledge when facing those challenging scenarios.
Evolution without losing experience
One thing we are particularly proud of at Beere Group is that our growth has not meant leaving our past behind. Instead, we have built upon it.
The knowledge gained from thousands of isolation projects informs the way we approach today's investigations. Our experience working within hazardous environments influences our approach to safety. Our electrical background provides the technical foundation for understanding increasingly complex service networks.
And the people who have been with us throughout that journey carry that knowledge forward to the next generation of employees.
This is where long service becomes particularly valuable. An average length of service isn't just a statistic. It represents years of accumulated experience, lessons learned, relationships developed and knowledge shared between colleagues.
Mike's 20+ years takes that to another level.
More than a job – a journey
Businesses often talk about their people being their greatest asset. For us, long-serving employees like Mike demonstrate exactly why.
The business Mike joined isn't the business we are today – and the Beere Group of today won't necessarily be the same business we are in another 20 years. And that's the point! We have always looked at what our clients need, identified where we can add value and adapted accordingly. Having people who evolve with it, bringing their existing knowledge alongside a willingness to also evolve and learn within new areas, makes that journey possible.
Mike's 20 years is therefore not just a milestone worth celebrating. It’s a reminder of the value of experience, loyalty and continual development to keep a career fresh.
Congratulations Mike – 20 years is an incredible achievement, and we are very pleased to have you continuing the journey with us.
Here's to the next chapter.
